The sports betting area near the entrance of Ameristar Casino will become the Barstool Sportsbook in December. Penn National CEO Jay Snowden said that the casino would be the first retail Barstool-branded sportsbook.
Penn National included a rendering of the retail sportsbook's proposed design in its third-quarter financial report. Also, it showed the remodeled sports betting facility with Barstool-themed tables, seats, and kiosks. It will also have a space for live events, a game area, and other amenities.
Snowden said that 2020 is a challenging year, but they are looking forward to introducing Barstool-branded retail sportsbooks. Penn National acquired the digital media firm earlier this year. It also launched a Barstool sportsbook app in Pennsylvania.
Retail Barstool Sportsbook
According to pay per head bookie reports, the app had a total handle of $78 million from 30,000 players. At the time of the release of the report, the app was operational for 37 days. The app has high user engagement due to the endorsement from several Barstool personalities.
Based on sports betting software company experts, Barstool effectively promoted Penn National's online and retail sports betting options. Thus, they attracted younger players to their mobile app and retail sportsbooks.
The company will also launch standalone sportsbooks. They want to provide more options to players in markets where sports betting is legal. At present, Penn National has plans to have Barstool sportsbooks in Detroit, Colorado, and Chicago. However, they are looking for locations outside of casinos to place retail sportsbooks.
